Clearcutting and other industrial logging practices are the leading source of greenhouse gas emissions in Oregon and amplify the risks associated with climate change by making the land more susceptible to wildfires, water shortages, harmful algae blooms, floods and landslides. Tragically Oregonians finance these practices through tax breaks and subsidies that total over $600 million per year. Come join Center for Sustainable Economy for a presentation by Dr. John Talberth reviewing the climate impacts of industrial logging practices and policy options for transforming these practices into climate smart alternatives.
This evening coincides with Climate Week, where world leaders will convene in NYC to showcase the necessary climate action that has been put into effect across the globe. With the help of Center for Sustainable Economy, come and support these international efforts by learning about how climate change is directly effecting our local environment.
Complimentary beverages from HopWorks and Union Wine, along with kombucha and snacks will be available!
